In Brevard, school safety on minds of many

Teachers locked classroom doors. Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies increased patrols near some elementary schools. Alarmed parents began lobbying principals and district officials for improvements to security at the gates and doors that give outsiders access into the buildings that contain their children.State lawmakers suggested even more drastic action — arming teachers with guns or tasers in the wake of a Dec. 14 elementary school shooting that killed 20 children and six adults.READ MORE
